THIS SUNDAY MARKS ONE OF THE COUNTRY'S BIGGEST "NON-HOLIDAYS" OF THE YEAR: THE SUPER BOWL! #42 FOR THOSE KEEPING COUNT.
No matter how many times I say it, I still have trouble believing that my beloved NEW YORK GIANTS are in the SUPER BOWL against what a team that some say is the BEST ever to play the game. So who is really under pressure? The team that is SUPPOSED TO win and finish the season 19-0? Or the team that many thought would barely get into the playoffs? I have to admit that I am playing with house money right now. I am usually counting down the days to when pitchers and catchers report to spring training by now (like those NEW YORK JET fans usually do by the 6th game of the football season).
I apologize for riding the excitement of my Giants on the Kiwanis blog, but we can certainly draw comparisons to the perceived "DAVID & GOLIATH" Super Bowl teams to those we help in Kiwanis where the odds seems so stacked against those we help, that all they need is a little support. Sometimes we need to look in the mirror and help ourselves first. That help can come in many forms.

Just to name a few: BRANDON BESTER, FAMILIES AND "KIDS" OF POSITIVELY KIDS, FAMILIES OF SHADE TREE, THE RECIPIENTS OF OUR HOLIDAY BASKETS, THE ANONYMOUS RECIPIENTS OF THE DOLLARS WE POUR BACK INTO THE LAS VEGAS COMMUNITY, AND ON AND ON AND ON.....
RIDDLE ME THIS BATMAN?

But why do we continue to do this? Does it make us feel better to help others? Do we do it because it is the in thing to do? Do we do it just to see our friends and there is no other time? Do we do it for the tax donations we get? The reasons are as many as there are stars in the sky.
